DEKKOO ACQUISITION ‘THROUPLE’ TO HAVE LIMITED

THEATRICAL RELEASE IN NEW YORK CITY AND LOS ANGELES

Queer, sexy rom-com sets limited city-by-city theatrical run prior to digital debut on VOD platforms later in 2025.

LOS ANGELES (February 10, 2025) – Love has no rules - so when a young man falls for a married couple, he makes his own. THROUPLE, the debut feature from writer/star Michael Doshier and director Greyson Horst has been acquired by Dekkoo Films for US distribution and will enjoy a limited theatrical release in New York at the famous Quad Cinemas beginning March 14 and Los Angeles beginning March 21. It will receive wider distribution via VOD and home media later in 2025. Joining Doshier in the cast are Tommy Heleringer ("The Outs"), Stanton Plummer-Cambridge ("Law and Order: Organized Crime”), Jess Gabor ("Three Women," "Shameless") and Tristan Carter-Jones (frontwoman, Dakota Jones.)

The edgy feature film has had successful runs at LGBTQ+ festivals such as Frameline, NewFest, Out on Screen, Wicked Queer and OUTshine Film Festival.

In Throuple, Michael (Doshier), a young gay musician living in Brooklyn, struggles to pursue his musical dreams and explore romantic intimacy. He relies on his best friend and her girlfriend for support and affection. When he begins an intimate and charged romance with a newly open married couple, the three men enter a relationship that is more vulnerable than any of them ever expected. As he tries to navigate romantic intimacies that test the bonds of his friendships, his world is thrown into emotional chaos, forcing him to make life-altering decisions — or watch it all slip away.

Doshier shared: “Throuple is an examination, and celebration, of the complexities in modern relationships. By following a group of big-hearted queer folks seeking connection, the film ends up offering a universal story of longing and belonging. Stories like these reflect the lives, struggles, and joys of people who have too often been pushed to the margins of mainstream cinema. When we put them on the big screen, we're affirming identities, sparking conversations, and making space for new voices and ideas that deserve to be heard.”

Throuple was directed by Greyson Horst from Michael Doshier’s script. Producers are Kara Bartek, Phil Hughes and Emmi Shockley; Nahnatchka Khan, Julia Bicknell, Tristan Scott-Behrends are Executive Producers. Carylanna Taylor of the Film Sales Company negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers with Dekkoo President Brian Sokel.

“Dekkoo Films looks for queer stories that are unique” stated Sokel. “Stories that are told by creators who bring a style and voice to their films. Through Michael Doshier’s script and Greyson Horst’s direction, Throuple is precisely that kind of picture. We are beyond excited to share this film with the largest audience possible. It’s a really fun, sexy, and touching film that needs to be seen.”

In addition, the Throuple soundtrack boasts a who’s who of the indie rock scene in New York with music from Dakota Jones, Darlin! The Band, Beth Million, TC Superstar, The Resonaters, Celeste Krishna, Softee, Kailey Prior, and Sizzy Rocket.
